How to start an ecommerce business in South Africa

You either have your own product or you want to sell someone else’s product online but not sure where to begin.

This short series is designed to get you up and running so that you can stock and sell any product and have it delivered anywhere in the world.

Starting with WHY you want to run this business.

If I could encourage anyone starting their business, I would urge them to first read the book,  Start With Why by Simon Sinek.

Yes money is a good reason to start a business,  freedom is a good reason to start a business but these will carry you only so far down the road until you begin to question why you’re doing this when the candle is burning for money only.

At Vane we have our Why whittled down to a single word – education. We are social entrepreneurs, building a business with purpose and it is digital literacy that we will offer to lead the way and prepare our clients and our youth for the inevitable Fourth Industrial Revolution  (the automated digital age).

Spend a good amount of time on this before you decide anything else. It will strengthen all the relationships you build if you align your purpose and values with people who have a common goal.

In our next post we’ll chat about Trust in the South African ecommerce landscape and other ecommerce startup problems you may encounter.
